Fun in the sun!

What an amazing day! We held our Summer Fun Day last Saturday (30th June 2018) and had the best time! The sun shone, lots of big and little people turned up to play and show their support, and we raised almost £450!

The cakes, refreshments and ice pops flew out of the door whilst the tots guessed the name of the teddy bear and worked out where the treasure was hidden on our map.

Some children kept very busy making their own sun visors, while others pestered mum or dad to put their hand into their pocket again they could buy a slinky, some slime or a slap band (amongst other things!) from our fondly named ‘tat’ stall!

Tracey Owen, Supervisor at Tollerton Playgroup, said: “There was a lovely atmosphere and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying what we have to offer. Playgroup is at the heart of the community, and that community spirit was shown on the day by the fantastic turnout and by everyone’s generosity.”

Some fabulous raffle prizes were on offer, with something for everyone, including passes for activities like Clip n' Climb or Red Kangaroo trampoline park, or a family day out at National Trust property Belton House. For the foodies, there was a sweet hamper donated by Gamston Morrisons up for grabs, plus vouchers for Gamston Lock pub and Nottingham Airport’s Chocks Away Café.

Other local businesses – Little Grippers, LMH Hair & Beauty, and Fin&G - showed their support with an Easigro baby outfit, beauty voucher and beautiful framed foil print respectively. Moore’s Garden Centre kindly donated some gift vouchers, and many of the children who won a raffle prize were delighted with a new toy or craft set!

Tracey added: “These events don’t just happen, it’s a team effort. On behalf of Playgroup’s staff and Committee, I’d like to say a massive thankyou to everyone involved, as well as to local businesses and families for their generosity. The money raised will help us to buy new equipment and resources for our little ones to enjoy.”
