Save the date for data changes
There’s a big date in everybody’s diaries this month, and it’s not just the 19th May when the bunting, balloons, flags and Union Jacks adorn the streets at parties up and down the country as we celebrate the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle! It probably won’t have the same royal fanfare to mark its arrival, but 25th May sees the biggest change to UK data privacy laws for a couple of decades.
Known officially as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), all organisations - be they large corporates, smaller businesses or charities - will have to be much more open about the information they hold about you and how it might be used.
For Tollerton Playgroup, it’s all about reassuring our families that we’re up to speed on the latest changes in the law, and letting you know that we take the protection of your data very seriously.
In line with the new requirements, we recently issued a Privacy Notice to all parents and carers. This explains what personal data we collect from our families, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
We’ve also written out to parents and carers, requesting that when they are next at Playgroup, they sign to confirm their preferences in terms of the data we hold.
As always, if anyone has any questions, please have a chat with any member of the team. But for now, enjoy the upcoming royal revelling in the sunshine (we hope!) with your own little princes and princesses, and let us worry about the more serious data protection stuff.
